A very rich subject matter that which
make up the paintings of Rene Robles. Rich in the masterly impasto
of the different artistic techniques, rich of cultural reminiscences
and of quotations - more evident among all those of the cubist period
of Picasso, but not less sensible than the other, which through the
very vivid emphasizing of the importance and effects of color and
the contortion of the subjects goes back to Francis Bacon.
That which strikes and fascinates more
when observing the thirty paintings which constitute the Milanese
exhibition is the emotion that springs from each one of them. All
the paintings seem to be animated by a small vital and pulsating nucleus.
The artist knows how to observe the reality - the inevitable starting
point - with eyes completely new, free from conditionings and preconceptions
; in this way he is able to project in his work the awesomeness of
a perceptive and original inner world that illuminates the truth with
poetic flashes, now cruel and merciless, now filled with a profound
and authentic affectivity.
